Twitter Adds ‘Connect’ Recommendations Tab
Over the past year, Twitter has added many new and exciting features to the site, including Hearts, Moments and pre-roll video ads. In its latest attempt to grab new users, the company has rolled out a Connect tab, which will help users to find relevant and interesting people to follow.
The Connect tab will be located in the top left hand corner of the screen on the app. It will display a list of recommendations of people to follow, depending on your own interests and likes.
Twitter claims that by analysing your behaviour on the site and communities you have joined, they will be able to provide content that you really care about.
Users will have the option to sync the app with their mobile address book, which will come in handy if you want to find your friends and family on the site.
In their blog post, the social network said; “Twitter connects you with the people you’re interested in —whether that’s someone across the world who shares your love for science-fiction, your friends and family, a politician, or your local sports team.”
“However, finding new accounts to follow used to require jumping through a few hoops and a dash of luck. That’s why we’ve reimagined the experience with our new Connect tab. Starting today, you’ll see a detailed list of people and accounts we think you’ll enjoy following, all easily accessible in one place.”
At the moment, this feature is only available to those accessing the platform from iOS and Android devices, and with 83% of users visiting Twitter from a mobile device; it is unclear whether they will choose to release the new feature to desktop versions.
