Facebook Profits Triple in First Quarter

With 1.09 billion people accessing Facebook each day, there is no doubt that it is the most popular social media platform in the world.

Last week, the company reported that its profits had tripled in the first quarter, totalling an impressive $5.4 billion. Not only has the site seen a good result in terms of profits but the number of users has also increased by 15%.

Facebook makes most of its money from advertising revenue, such as promoted posts, events and business ads. From the $5.4 billion that it has made so far this year, $5.2 billion came from advertising.

80% of Facebook’s ads were viewed from mobile devices, meaning that whether you are creating an advert for social media or focusing on your company’s website, responsive design has never been so important.

Commenting on the latest figures, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said; “We had a great start to the year. We’re focused on our 10-year roadmap to give everyone in the world the power to share anything they want with anyone.”

“Our community now has 1.65 billion people. In the last few months, we launched Reactions, rolled out Live video, built Messenger into a platform, shipped Oculus Rift and have now connected 25 million people to the internet. We’ve also worked day after day on lots of small improvements to make your experience better.”

One of Facebook’s many plans for the future is that they will soon incorporate selling robots into the Messenger service. The company hopes that introducing these robots will give customers the support that they need, while providing the perfect selling opportunity for businesses.
