Facebook considering adding ‘dislike’ button

The world’s most popular social media site, Facebook, is thinking about adding a ‘dislike’ button feature.

If you have used the site, you may have seen the fake posts which have been falsely advertising the feature, in order to get personal details and likes.

The ‘dislike’ button has become one of the most sought after additions, but it is yet to be incorporated into the site.

Facebook’s main worry is that by adding this button will allow users to ‘demean’ each other, rather than using the site for positive interaction.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, has said “One of things we’ve thought about for quite a while is what’s the right way to make it so that people can easily express a broader range of emotions. A lot of times people share things on Facebook that are sad moments in their lives. Often people tell us that they don’t feel comfortable pressing ‘like’ because ‘like’ isn’t the appropriate sentiment.’

‘Some people have asked for a dislike button because they want to say, ‘That thing isn’t good.’ That’s not something that we think is good for the world. The thing that I think is very valuable is that there are more sentiments that people want to express.”

The ‘dislike’ button is still in the early stages of discussion, so it is unlikely that we will see it on our screens anytime soon. Users will need to wait and see what the future holds for Facebook’s features!
