6 Tips for Using Instagram for Your Business
At Piranha, we love Instagram! Not only do we use it to share snaps of our favourite spots, food and friends in our spare time, but we also use it for business purposes too. The great thing about this platform is that it gives you the opportunity to connect with new customers, showcase your products and put yourself ahead of competitors. If you want to get your brand out there visually, Instagram is the perfect marketing tool for you.
Here are 6 tips for using Instagram for your business.
Test the platform first
If you have never used Instagram before, it will probably take you a while to familiarise yourself with how to use it. It’s a really good idea to set up your own personal account before the one for your business, as this will give you the chance to explore the app without it actually affecting your company. Once you feel confident enough, you can then set up your company profile and begin your Instagram journey!
Get the right balance
It might seem tempting to only post photos of your products, but this isn’t what your followers want to see. You need to get the right balance between business posts and fun posts, if you want to make your Instagram a success. If you aren’t sure what images to use to lighten the mood, try getting your employees together for a group photo, post something interesting from the office or try to do something fun outside of work.
Gather a following
Your Instagram following won’t grow overnight, it is something that will take both time and patience. As you begin to post and follow other people, you will notice that the number of people following you increases. The more engaging photos you post, the better it will be for your business. And don’t forget to promote your Instagram on other social media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter, as this will get you more attention.
Take advantage of video
Videos have proved extremely popular not only on Instagram but online in general. The app allows you to upload a 15 second video, which you could use to showcase your products or even show followers how to use them. You can be as creative as you want with this, just be sure to check that you reflect your company and are professional within the video.
Use relevant hashtags
Hashtags are a great way to get discovered on social media and are definitely worthwhile including in your posts. You will need to choose ones that are relevant to your business, for instance, if you are a restaurant, you could use things like #yummy, #burger or #treat. Try not to use too many hashtags in your posts as it comes across as spammy, instead aim for around 1-3.
Add an Instagram link to your website
It’s all well and good having an Instagram account but if people don’t know that you are on there, you will waste both time and resources. Having a link on your website means that any visitors can head over to your Instagram page and follow you in a matter of seconds. The chances are that if that link isn’t there or doesn’t work, your customer will lose interest and you will miss out on a potential follower.
